Working with the One World Shop: Growing Opportunities with Magic Beans

The One World Shop in Edinburgh has long been a steadfast supporter of the Mamie Martin Fund, sharing our mission to champion education and empowerment in Malawi. Our partnership has recently blossomed through their innovative loyalty scheme, Magic Beans. So, for every £1 spent, shoppers earn 1p in credit and can claim discounts or donate to one of the shop’s supported projects. We’re thrilled that our Ready to Learn Fund is now among those options!

During her UK visits, Mercy Sibande, our Malawi Country Director, has shared stories of how fair trade premiums transform lives, helping farmers prioritise their children’s education. As a result, every purchase at the One World Shop is a step toward brighter futures for children. With this in mind, in this scheme we’re cultivating change together – one Magic Bean at a time.

To illustrate the difference you can make:

  • A bar of soap costs just 10p
  • A pack of 4 reusables sanitary towels is only 30p
  • You can buy a notebook for 40p
  • A school jersey costs £5
  • A full school uniform is more expensive at £25

You can either donate your loyalty points to buy these items in the shop, or on their website. This support from One World Shop customers gives our girls the chance to learngrow and succeed. Together, we can make education more accessible, helping girls in Malawi to break the cycle of poverty.
