Where we work

The Mamie Martin Fund currently supports 163 girls at 7 secondary schools in North Malawi. Click on the location to see details about each school which we support.

Jenny Thompson and her daughter, Hannah, visited Embangweni Secondary school in Malawi in Dec 2024. They had fun, learnt a lot and went home cheered by the difference that their family fund is making to girls’ lives there.

In spite of school fees being free in Government schools, many girls drop out of secondary due to financial hardship because there are other costs associated with attending schools. Most of the schools we support are boarding schools and boarding fees still need to be paid. We pay those fees and also provide for the necessities which so many of the pupils lack, such as soap, notebooks, uniforms, shoes and transport.

The Mamie Martin Fund believes that no girl who has gained a place at secondary school should have to give it up because of poverty.

By supporting us you can play your part in working towards this ambitious goal.
