Maclina Kumwenda graduated in 2020 with a BSc in Physical Planning from the University of Malawi. She attended Elangeni Secondary School where she was supported by the MMF from 2009-2011. She has since remained in touch with us.

Like so many graduates, Maclina did not find it easy to get work in her professional area. However, she is now working as a Site and Administration Officer at one of the development companies which aims to increase affordable renewable energy supply in sub-Saharan Africa. Among other things her role at this company includes handling the operations and management side of construction projects, monitoring contracts and coordinating site visits.
She says “I thank God for MMF because they have contributed to peak of my professional journey. MMF gave me freedom to focus on my studies, which is what I needed to make an impact and advance in my career….”
Maclina is a wonderful role model and is helping current MMF girls to have passion and courage to pursue their dreams. She gives them a message:
“Whatever we receive today, is like a seed sowed for future generation. So, if you can’t work hard for yourself, do it for the ones watering the seed. MMF in other words is advocating for, protecting and fighting for the career advancement of an individual, therefore it’s now up to every MMF beneficiary to respond positively. I can’t think of a person who rose without a sponsor, you (we) are lucky that we have people at the table of career advancement”.
