A quick summary of our year…
Our donors and member supporters continued to make regular donations. Funds also came in from special projects and from various long term funding streams. Some of these have come to us via legacies which are a lovely way to support us and very much appreciated.
Using these funds, we supported 148 girls at 7 schools (2022-23), paying their schools fees and other necessary expenses through the R2L Fund.
Our Malawi Country Director visited each school at the beginning of each term. She liaised with each school and checked on the girls as well as supporting and mentoring them.
Improvement in connectivity has allowed us to meet as a full Board online, including Remmie and Patrick in Malawi.
Moira, our Marketing Lead, co-ordinated an extensive programme of various fundraising activities. The main one being, of course, our #Birthday30 Challenge. The Marketing Team have worked hard to share the stories from all those taking part in these events.
Mercy’s visit (open this link for more detail) meant that many of our supporters and volunteers were able to meet her, including the Lancashire West Methodist Circuit and supporters who live relatively near there.
Our Partners
- Synod of Livingstonia – We supported girls in 4 schools this year; Karonga Girls’, Bandawe Girls’, Elangeni Secondary School and Embangweni Secondary School for Deaf Children.
- Diocese of Karonga – We supported girls in 2 schools – St. Mary’s Karonga Girls’ and Kaseye Girls’ in Chitipa.
- Menchengautuba CDSS – we continued our successful partnership directly with this Community Day Secondary School.
